Premonitions can come in many different forms, but we most often experience them in dreams. It’s quite common to find that people have them once you actually get started on the subject. People seem to shy away from speaking about them in case of ridicule, but you will find that when a conversation gets started on the subject, more and more people add their stories as to when their own premonition came true.

Think about a time when you had a strong sense of Deja Vu. Was it after a premonition dream? Even if we can’t remember the dreams we have that foretell the future, we can still feel that overwhelming sense of having seen something or been somewhere before. This is because we have a lot of these dreams. We don’t vividly remember them all but a part of our subconscious does – hence the feeling.

A great way to practice remembering more of your dreams is to keep a dream journal. Get into the habit of writing down all dreams as
soon as you wake up, no matter how mundane they may seem. These trains the brain to retain more information about your dreams and you’ll soon notice the difference in the length you’re writing. It’s also a useful device to check back to see if any of your dreams premonitions came true.

On Reddit, people were asked Anybody else had weird dream premonitions that came true? The poster got everyone started off with a story and shortly, more and more people came forward to tell their own stories about when their premonitions came true

I had a strange deja-vu episode, I’ll try to explain…

I was 18, living in London, staying on a friends couch one night and I had a strangely realistic dream. At this point, I should mention that I’m a massive stoner so vivid dreams are few and far between for me and I tend to remember them quite well.

In this dream I was walking down a corridor with friends, in my dream I knew they were my friends but I didn’t actually recognise any of them, despite having a good look at their faces,

Next, we all walked through a big steel door into a square room with a high ceiling and black walls. Other stuff is hazy at this point as it was a few years ago but I distinctly remember a damp musky smell and hearing loud music drift in and out and also remember being sat on a couch in this black room talking with another ‘friend’ whose face I couldn’t make out but had this solid ‘best pal’ type connection with. I can distinctly remember desperately trying to explain something to that person but much like punching in a dream, I couldn’t get my words out.

I woke up on my friend’s couch after this dream with that strange feeling you get from a deja vu experience. I was hyper-aware and I can remember just sitting there with a joint trying to work out what had just gone through my mind while I had been sleeping.

Fast forward almost exactly 1 year to the day and I had moved back to the north of England from London and was going to my first practice session with a new band with people I had known for a long time, but at that point hardly spoke too much.

As I was walking down the corridor into my new rehearsal space I got that massive wave rush over me that you only get with deja-vu, we went through a big steel door and into a black room with high ceilings and loud music already playing. My head was already messed up, I knew I was experiencing my dream from the past in the real world present, peoples faces made sense, and I found myself sat on a couch explaining to the guy from the dream (who now had a face which made complete sense) exactly what I was going through.

I could remember everything about the original dream at that point, I remembered waking up and running through all the possibilities in my head and was explaining this all to my new band-mate who was just sitting there soaking up the fact that I had had the same conversation with him, in a dream, a year earlier.

I have to point out that everything from the corridor, to the steel door, to the shape of the room, the colour of the room, the music, the musky damp smell was all exactly as I had dreamt it. there were no inaccuracies except for words and faces being muffled and hazy.

I still can’t get my head around it

This happens to me all the time. I have a time-stamped log in a private internet group so I a) have witnessed and b) can look back and check dates and details. The frustrating thing is that I can’t induce it, and the precognition is totally random – I can miss huge world events but predict my friend’s mother (who I hadn’t seen or talked to in over 2 years) being diagnosed with tuberculosis from her years as a nurse, which was totally out of the blue and not confirmed until I saw her again a year later.

I do sometimes get the world events though – I saw Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines about a week and a half before warnings about its pending arrival made the news. (I can thank terrible US geography education for the fact that I didn’t recognize any of the names of the places that I saw in the dream until I woke up and googled.)

I had a dream about a car crash a couple of months before it happened. Fast forward, I’m about to get in my ex’s car when a voice in my ear tells me to buckle up, which I had almost never done up to that point because teenagers are stupid. Anyway, I get in, buckle up, we talk, yadda yadda. Then we end up at this spot I’ve never been to before. I literally don’t remember the time between leaving his house and arriving at that destination. It’s a damn blank.

There’s a car coming and we end up t-boned on my side. I get out and sit on a nearby curb waiting for an ambulance to arrive. Then, there’s a brief moment of clarity where I realize…

Both cars are in the exact same position as in the dream. I’m sitting exactly in the same position (knees close to the chest, holding my head, later found out I had suffered a mild concussion) and the exact same spot as in the dream. Even the fucking road is the same. Even my fucking outfit down to my damn shoes is the same.

It still freaks me out.

My first big prediction that came true with lots of witnesses to the prediction and event was in grade 5: I dreamt of the funeral of a friend’s grandmother in vivid detail, down to the flowers she was holding (foxgloves, which I don’t think I had heard of at that point in my life prior to knowing what they were in the dream itself), a conversation that happened between two women in a stairwell, and the gold stars on a turquoise ceiling of the church. I came in the next day and promptly told my friend about it, down to the last detail. She became upset as her grandmother (who I had never met, and she never discussed) was not yet 70 and in perfect health. We didn’t speak about it again until she called me a few months later and asked me to repeat the dream – apparently, the funeral took place exactly how I had described it, in a church that was easily identified by the stars on the ceiling.

When my daughter was 16 she had a recurring nightmare about a man doing horrible things to children. She’d never seen the man before but could describe him perfectly- long, stringy hair, slender, in his late 30’s or early 40’s, dirty, and unkempt.

One day, she was with me when I went to pick up my son from a friend’s house. As my son climbed into the car, a man walked out of a house a few doors down. My daughter had a complete meltdown- screaming and crying that this was the man from her dreams. I got a quick look at the man before she was completely panicked, locking the car doors and crying for me to ‘leave, just leave’.

When we got home I talked to both children. Neither had ever seen this man before. I spoke to my son’s friend’s parents. They did not know the man either. They said he had moved in a few months prior and they rarely saw him outside.

A few days after, a huge story broke about a child sex ring. And yep, it involved that same man. His name was Harry Robbs. This happened in Clovis, New Mexico in 2003.

Fortunately, none of my children were involved. We did not know any of the victims. I feel so bad for them and I’m glad Robbs and the other adults got caught.

I had an extremely disturbing dream which had elements that I felt meant my husband was in imminent danger. I begged him not to go to work that morning because it was his last day at that job. But he wasn’t one to call off work so he went and less than an hour later he was killed in an accident.

These things have happened throughout my life and I learned long ago to trust my intuition.

I dreamed that my friend’s mother was in her first-floor bedroom (guest room) and had cancer. A few years later she had cancer and was in the first-floor bedroom instead of the master bedroom upstairs because the master bedroom was too hard to get to on the second floor while she had chemo. She died in that bedroom.

I had the most vivid dream I’ve ever had. After I woke up, I wrote it out and sent it out to a lot of my friends – because it just… touched me. It seemed important. It was the most vivid dream experience I’ve ever had.

It was about the space shuttle blowing up. less than 48 hours later it happened.

One time, when I was fairly young, I had a dream that this huge oak tree in our driveway had fallen over and my dog was maybe twice as big as she is in real life. I remember feeling kind of confused and thinking “when did this tree die and fall over. Wow, Crybaby (my dog) is big..” Then, my dog puts a massive paw on top of my hand that’s resting on the oak tree and says “I’m going to die” with a sad look on her face.

So, the next morning, I woke up. Remembered the dream and thought that it was silly, even though it seemed so vivid. My dog is fine, nothing is wrong with her at all. My mom told me to go do something outside and as I’m walking back to the house, I see my dog and she’s just looking at me and I said “you’re not going to die” and petted her a few minutes. A few hours later, my mom told me that my dog had somehow died out of nowhere.

I dreamt that my mom received a call from my aunt that my uncle died. When I woke up from that dream, I laid there in fright since my perception of reality felt skewed… A few minutes later, when I went to wake my mom up from her room, she was on the phone crying because my uncle had been murdered.

My (now ex-) girlfriend and I were at a party and it was really late so I fell asleep on the basement couch. I had a dream that my girlfriend was cheating on me with another friend in the hot tub outside, and it jolted me awake. I got up and went upstairs and the exact hot tub cheating scene from my dream was playing out before my eyes. Chaos ensued. Still one of the strangest things that have ever happened to me.

I dreamt that my grandmother said goodbye to me. Later that day my dad informed me that she had “gone to a better place”. I was 4 maybe 5.

Had a strange dream once. I dreamt I was flying, high up in the air, across fields and valleys. It felt wonderful in my dream. There was a lady next to me also flying. We continue flying for a while and all of a sudden we come up to a mountain.

The mountain was enormous. It was so high up that its peak was covered in clouds. It was colossal in size. The lady and I descended and perched ourselves unto a rock to observe the mountain. Then the lady points to something, high up in the face of the mountain, an entrance to a cavern could be seen.

So I fly towards the entrance of this cave but no matter how fast I flew, the further it got away from me. It was unreachable. So after a futile event, I flee back to the rock where the lady was waiting for me, smiling.

Then she says, “Once 3 men got stuck in the cave but they were able to get out. You could reach the cave if you really wanted.” And I woke up. It was a strange dream and stranger still that I would remember it. I had nothing to do that day. I decided to visit a bookstore and buy a book to read.

So I visited this used bookstore store and the only book that got my attention that day was a copy of the Koran. Now, mind you I’m not a Muslim and I know absolutely nothing about the religion. I have been raised a Christian my whole life. I bought the book for nothing more out of curiosity.

I go home and glimpse thru the book but I couldn’t understand anything of it. I got bored with it and was about to put it down but then I remember the dream I had the night before and I decided to google it to see what came up. And wouldn’t you know it I came across this following legend out of the Koran. Weirdest dream ever.

I went to high school in Antioch, CA, and graduated from Antioch High School in June 1986.

Antioch’s nearest neighboring town is Pittsburg, CA, home of Pittsburg High School. As of June 1986, I had never attended Pittsburg High, didn’t know anyone who went to Pittsburg High and had only set foot on the campus of Pittsburg High once in my life (attending a football game in my junior year).

In the weeks following graduation, still in June 1986, my then-girlfriend and I were housesitting for a friend. One night, I dreamed that I had auditioned for the play, The Crucible. In the dream, my girlfriend and I were leaving her father’s business office and driving to Pittsburg High School to see if I had been cast in the play. We were going to Pittsburg High because that’s where the cast list was going to be posted.

When I awoke, I told my girlfriend about this strange dream. It was very lifelike, but it made no sense. I had been active in drama in high school, but all the other elements were out of place in typical dream fashion. After all, I had just graduated high school, and never attended Pittsburg High anyway, so why would I be doing a play there now? The Crucible was one of my favorite plays, but I didn’t know of anyone producing it at the time, Pittsburg High or otherwise. My girlfriend’s father’s office was in Pittsburg, but it’s not like either my girlfriend or I worked there. I probably only told my girlfriend about it because it was such a vivid dream.

Time passed. I moved away from Antioch for a month or so but moved back in September 1986. By then, my girlfriend was attending the local junior college (Los Medanos College, in Pittsburg). One day while escorting her to class, I saw a flyer on a bulletin board announcing auditions for the fall play. The play was The Crucible. (Of course, at this point, I wasn’t consciously thinking about the dream from months before.) I auditioned. As it turned out, the college’s theatre was too small to house a full stage play, and Pittsburg High’s drama teacher was directing the play for the college. So, naturally, it was being staged at Pittsburg High School….

So there we were, several days after the auditions. I’m in the car with my girlfriend, and we’re leaving her father’s office (where she had started working in the months since the dream) to go to Pittsburg High School to look at the cast list of The Crucible and see if I made the play! It was exactly like the dream!!

And the thing that separated this from your typical deja-vu is, I had a “witness.” My girlfriend had been with me when I had the dream, and I had told her about it right after I dreamed about it. Then, months later, she was with me again when the events seen in the dream occurred, and she remembered my telling her about the scene months before. And all of the elements of the dream that made no sense at all in June 1986, turned out to make perfect sense in September 1986.

So I didn’t just have some vague feeling that I’d seen some event in a dream. I knew I’d seen it in a dream, I remembered when the dream had been, I had told someone else about the dream at the time that I’d had it, that person remembered me telling her about the dream, and that person was also with me when the events of the dream took place in real life.

Just to make sure I hadn’t subliminally seen an early flyer for The Crucible months before, I checked with the drama dept. At the time of my dream in June, no flyers had been made, the play had not been chosen, the director had not been chosen, and the venue had not been chosen. So there’s no way I could have just seen this somewhere and worked it into a dream.

Because the details of my dream were both so specific and so unlikely (at the time of the dream), “random chance” is a nearly-impossible explanation, in my opinion… more impossible than some as-yet-unexplained mechanism for seeing future events.

I don’t know exactly how, but I experienced some kind of wrinkle in time in 1986. ?

I had a dream when I was about 6 years old about my granddad dying. In the dream I was with my dad walking towards the hospital my granddad was at (he had heart troubles and I went every weekend to see him in the hospital). While we were walking up, my aunt and uncle are walking towards us and my aunt is crying. She tells us he’s gone. A week later that exact thing happened. I didn’t tell my dad about that dream until I was about 17.

I used to have reoccurring dreams all the time about driving through a neighborhood I had never been to before. When I was like 8 or 9 my mom took me driving to show me the neighborhood she grew up in. I grew up in Arizona and we were in Chicago, and this neighborhood was exactly as it was in my dream. I was freaking out, but nobody believed me. She showed me my grandparent’s first house and everything was spot on as I dreamt it. Still gives me the willies to this day.

I had a dream once when I was in the woods, tripped over something and smashed my teeth in.

I was an air cadet at the time and there was an optional night exercise that was due to happen in…my local woods in the same week that I had the dream in.

I chose not to go. One of the more senior cadets did go on the night exercise. He tripped over something in the dark woods and smashed three teeth out.

I’ve only had one premonition-type of dream and it came true within hours. In the dream, I was standing in a field, looking up into the morning sky, watching a fireball fall with a smoke trail behind it. Pieces of it were breaking off here and there. I was with a handful of other people, who I did not know, and we were all looking up in amazement. A radio was on and there was a man stating, “Do not touch any pieces of the spacecraft that may crash to earth due to potential radiation contamination,” and things of that nature. We all stood looking into the sky for a few more moments before I woke up.

When I woke from the dream, I noticed it was still dark outside, so I looked at the clock. It was 2:35 AM (EST). I got up, got a drink of water, laid back in bed and thought about the dream for a while. I was having trouble going back to sleep, so I turned on the radio and eventually drifted back to sleep.

I woke up in the morning, and to my disbelief, I was hearing the same voice from the radio in my dream hours before on the radio now, saying similar things. I thought, “What the hell is going on?!” I turned on the TV, switched it over to a news channel, and saw this video on the screen. Space Shuttle Columbia had just disintegrated during re-entry. I get goosebumps even today thinking about it.

I have had a handful of these dreams. They have been about mundane things, but they’re still freaky.

  • I had a dream I was standing at my bus stop with an umbrella, waiting for the bus. The next morning, I did my makeup and my hair (note: 14 y/o wielding a flat-iron and LOTS of hairspray – I never styled my hair if it was raining because it was futile). I get ready to go and throw open the door only to find it’s raining! So I grab an umbrella, march my ass down to the bus stop and then find myself waiting at the busstop…. standing in the rain with an umbrella.
  • I had a dream there were two lines of people, each line walking in the opposite direction, single file but close enough to bump into people heading in the opposite direction. One person bumps my shoulder, we make eye contact and I realize it’s a guy I know named Ken. He says “Hey!” because it has been so long since we have seen each other and we really just continue on our merry way. An unrelated friend comes over a few days later and goes, “Hey, do you know a Ken? He wanted me to tell you he says Hi”
  • This last one is from my aunt because apparently this thing runs in our family. She had a dream when she was 13 that her friend called, asking to hang out. She said, “I can’t, my mom died.” Her friend was really upset and was all,” YOU REALLY SHOULDN’T SAY THINGS LIKE THAT” and yadda yadda. The next day, her mom drops dead from a heart attack and her friend calls asking if she wants to hang out….you know where this is going!

I don’t normally dream so vividly. But once, I had an extremely detailed dream about a plane flying overhead and crashing into a field in front of me. The next day, that plane went down over Ukraine. Shook me up a bit.

In VH1’s “Behind the Music: Lynryd Skynrd” One of the backup singers who didn’t get on the flight that crashed for whatever reason, stated that that night she awoke from a dream that something had gone terribly wrong with the plane killing everyone on board. She woke up screaming to her mother who was at her house at the time. When she wakes up the next morning she learns about the plane crash killing what band members were on board.
